In this webinar we discuss Holly (name changed for confidentiality). Holly is a 9-year-old identical twin who after becoming very unwell in September 2019 with extreme lethargy and low mood then develops guttate psoriasis.
After a diagnosis of Strep throat Mum is offered courses of anti-biotics and steroid creams. The skin fails to improve, and Holly becomes very aware of her on-going skin issues. She is sad and ashamed of her skin which begins to affect her emotionally.
Mum decides to take the situation into her own hands, and we discuss dietary changes and consider the GUT-Psoriasis link. After reading up on the side affects of on-going steroid use, Mum decides against the topical treatments which are based on resolving the symptoms. As a Registered Nutrition Practitioner, I am more focused on triggers, causative factors and any food or environmental issue which may be driving the condition.
The incredible results can be seen in the images included in the webinar.
Questions to mull over in this REAL LIVES webinar include: what are the changes made to Holly’s food plan, what nutrients do we need to support the immune system and the skin in a psoriasis case, is there valid evidence of a connection between the gut microbiome and this skin condition, could dairy drive a psoriasis case and could the emotional stress involved in living with chronic psoriasis also be a driving factor?
To give a balanced view we also need to ask ourselves - would this condition, known to be self-limiting in 60% of cases, have resolved by itself?
We will discuss dietary, lifestyle and supplement psoriasis busting techniques for kids which allow us to reach the root of the problem and offer some resolution from the discomfort of the symptoms.
This webinar is suitable for students of nutrition, newly qualified nutritionists with an interest in skin conditions and those who have an interest in psoriasis and do not mind some technical language!
