This month myself and Tanya are bringing a taste of Okinawa to Hurstpierpoint. Okinawa boasts the greatest number of centenarians in the world so I'll be discussing how the traditional diet may have influenced this trend and how to replicate this, during which we will be serving three courses of plant-based delicious food. The humble sweet potato (IMO) will be a major feature. A root vegetable held close to the heart of those in Okinawa; this nourishing food is deemed to be of such health value that a popular and common greeting in this region translates as ‘have you had your IMO today?’.
Longevity is not all about nutrition. The evening is about community, friendship, socialising and laughter. Take time out to meet new people, learn a new type of cuisine and overall, feel connected.
